Its been a busy day of preparation here today. The house is full of wonderful smells, like hallah bread and cooked onions.

Rob and Also celebrate our 17th anniversary tommorow. 17 years has gone by fast.

I leave you with these thoughts. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of the things not seen. Lets just take a while and chew on that though for a bit.

Faith in something not seen=evidence....something you can see.

What is the substance and evidence that identifies you with YHWH, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob?

Adventures?

I think it has a been a little long since my last post. Things have not been to adventurous here in Iwakuni. I think we're at the point of dealing with the culture shock really. These things just take time.

And while we have not had many Japanese adventures we have had some spiritual ones. I finally began Torah studies with the girls today. Brittany was a little disappointed about not attending a local VBS here so I decided I would do Torah School. Only It will last much longer than a week. I was thinking along the lines of the rest of our lives! So we began with talking a bit about why YHWH gave the Torah and ended our discussion with Psalm 1. Certainly appropriate indeed.

Psalm 1:1,2,3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the cousel of the ungodly, not standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the Law of YHWH. And in His Law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper

May YHWH help us to learn his ways and grow to be like that tree.

Stephani Started art classes last week. She has spent the afternoon painting with watercolers.

I began my day today like any other: A cup of coffee, bible reading and facebook. Then comes the meek little voice from the stairs, " Mama, may I go outside?" Sure I tell her, knowing she hasn't done "school work" yet. I convince myself that it's a field trip day so its o.k. As I was preparing to go out today, there was another voice. One that said "your children are problably not where they should be academically." That was my inner voice. I couldn't argue; All I could do was question. Are my girls going to turn out ok? What about college? What about being able to communicate? What about....what about.... what about.....? "Yes inner voice, I know, I know. I probably should be more consistant with math. After all, pie-r-2 will come in very handy some day. Hmmm. We'll get back to that a little later.

The time came to leave for the field trip. I had to drive. In Japan. This would be My first time. I was really very nervous. But we all strapped in the van, and I prayed. "YHWH please help me today drive today. I can't do it with out you. Amein." Deep breath. I went foward. Thankfully a new homeschooling friend allowed me to follow her to Kintai Fountains, our destination. The bridges in Japan are indeed very narrow. I tried to carefully manuver between on coming traffic and the railing. "Your doing great Mom." says Katelyn. "Thanks, honey I'm trying." I nervously replied. Deep breath. So. While trying to avoid oncoming traffic, I steered a little to far to the left and .....Yes I hopped the steep ledge that separates the road from the sidewalk! After sliding about 10 feet, the van came to an abrupt stop with my left side tires off the road, over the ledge. I buried my face in my hands. The tears flowed. Immediatley I hear Katelyn. Oh it's ok Mom! Don't worry, we're fine. I'll run and get help. Suddently a flood of encouragement comes from the back of the van. "Don't worry Mom we're gonna get help just hold on." " Mom don't worry its ok." " We're all ok." The next thing I know off they go running full speed to get help. I didn't know Katelyn could run that fast. Five minutes later the girls came running full speed, out of breath, to tell me help was coming. I waited.
Still my girls were encouraging me that everything would be alright. Katelyn rubbed my shoulder almost nonstop. Brittany constantly repeated "It really is ok, Mom." Stephani stood calm and cool as a cucumber and said "Yeah, Mom, I'm sure help will be here soon." She smiled. Sometimes I think concrete could melt at her smile. Help did arrive. Soon we were on our way to the fountains.

So what happened to pie-r-2? Well, Pi r squared might be the circumfence of a circle, and 2x2 does equal 4, but grace, encourgement and love out weight them all. In crunch time my girls rallied together around this mama who needed their encourgement which enabled me to pull together and think. After today I think my girls are exactly where they need to be. Have they fully arrived? Of course not. Is it because of my fabulouso training? No way. It is only by YHWH's grace. But I have been inspired! I am more motivated than ever to teach my children YHWH's word, because that is where we all need to be.

So, reader(if you made it down this far) and have asked the same quesions as above, be encouraged. See what YHWH has done in your children. Look for the good he is performing in them and be motivated to keep teaching them. And in these last days, that might come in handeir than pie anyway!

Well much has happened here since my last post. We have moved into a house; a blessing indeed! We do not have any of our house hold goods but all in all we are still blessed. We have purchased a vehicle...well sort of. We're actually having a hard time getting the guy to take our money. Now driving is an adventure here. It is indeed much harder than it seems to drive on other side of the road. Not to mention every thing in vehicle is backwards! I am practicing however and hope to be a pro soon(maybe). School is slow right now as I have limited acces to books. We learning Japanese though, and that is fun.

I must say that I am developing a love for the Japanese people. They are a very polite, honorable people. I do believe they are also searching for light. I pray that YHWH will mold me and show the Light while I am here.

Japanese word for the week: Sumimasen (soo meh mo sehn) or pardon me

Greetings from Japan!

It certainly has been and adventure just getting here. We spent about 16 hours on planes and about 12 more hours waiting. And Thursday disappeared somewhere never to be found. But praise Yah we are here safe and the jet lag is finally starting to subside some. I still want to crawl in bed at 6pm but each day is a little better.

We were able to visit town yesterday. We kind of had information overload after our "indoctrination" so it was a little hard to to absorb everything. There is so much to do here though, I wonder if three years is enough.

Rob was finally off to work this morning and he is VERY glad about that. So if there is such a thing as normal we seem to be finally settling into it somewhat. We are still in temporary housing, but I must say it isn't bad at all. I am indeed thankful for everything YHWH has provided for us HallaluYah!

Once the rain stops I'll be able to get out and take some pictures. Until then....

It was good to have been in the house of the Lord yesterday. It was wonderful to see Bro. Barber and his wife again. I'd like to share a little bit about their ministry to the Philippines. They have started the Helping Hands Box Ministry in which they round up food and clothing, pack them in bog boxes along with tracks and bibles and ship them to the philippines. The "round up" comes from local churches and like a curcuit ridin' preacher, Bro. Barber goes from church to church preaching and collecting items brought in by the people.

They have 2 main prayer requests. First for God's protection over the boxes as they are shipped and second that the gospel will reach the people of the Philippines. It takes about 3 months for a box to arrive to the Philippines. The Barbers shipped their first box on May 7th. They have shipped 12 more boxes since then packed with food,clothing,bibles and tracks for the Philippines. Will you pray with me today over those boxes and for the people of the Philippines to receive the gospel? Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know it was long.

I have another quilt piece finished. This will probably my last piece I show until I have enough to start putting the quilt together. All the pieces will be similar to the three I've shown. I've decided to make this one a simple lap quilt for the living room(ap. 7' x 4') since this will be my first "big" quilt.

I will be picking my hubby tomorrow.

The Next Piece

Yeah! Here is my second "Log Cabin" for my Log Cabin quilt. Wow, at this rate I might have it finished in 2 years. ( lol) I'll pick up my pace a bit on the cutting. I just wanted to see if I liked each "log cabin" being different, instead of having a paticular theme. I think I will like it just fine.

Well here it is. I posted in my daybook some time ago about beginning a log cabin quilt. After the planning I actually have my first piece complete. Whew. How gratifying. My second piece is in the making.

And just in case one hasn't noticed I have a new blog design. Thank you to hskubes who did a fabulous job. She used my actual quilt piece to design it. Great job Kubes! You can find her link at the bottom of my side bar.

An Ocean Picnic

It was a beatiful day for a trip to the beach so we packed up an headed off. It was wonderful. We spent the day with friends as we walked up and down the beach .

First Term

The First week of our term began this week. I'm not sure it went as smoothly as I would like, but then again I'm a perfectionist and those who know me also know I have issues with scheduling for some reason. I have a hard time sticking to any routine. By God's grace though, this year I am giving it everything I have.

This will be the first year We attempt a budget. Haha. Me on a budget. I'm really praying The Lord will help me have a good attitude about it. But at first it really stinks.

I also made a discovery with my youngest this week. I'm not sure I like the Holling Clancy Holling book Tree in the Trail so much. Actually we may put it down. Actually I'm little discouraged about what I should do with Brittany. We read together and she does math. I think I need to read some more Charlotte Mason to get encouraged a little. She actually listens in when I do history with the older two(2 different histories) and she gets just as much as they do and my oldest is in high school.

Enough rambling. I am praying through my schedule and my budget. I know God will give just what I need.

Wow, What a week! Our bible conference was wonderful. The Lord blessed my heart through Bro. Herchenhahn's preaching. I'm afraid not much else was accomplished this week with the exception of a little laundry and the moping of floors. I certainly was grateful for the warmer weather this week. However it is a little chilly now, but praise the Lord anyway.

Well I've made it a full ten days without coffee caffeine or sugar. I really starting to feel much better. I walked everyday with the exception of Wednesday. So I am praying a healthier me is on the way. I am really committed so that I can serve the Lord with everything I have. After all He is so completely committed to me even though I don't deserve it.

Just An Average Week

Well I have nothing really new to share. We spent some time with reading out loud, learning a little about Japan and Ancient Egypt.

I've experienced a major victory this week as I have been three days with out coffee, caffiene or sugar. Actually I feel pretty good today.

I guess you could say that we've been practicing on taking one day at a time this week while Rob is away. I will probably get busy sewing this weekend. Our Bible conference begins this week with Dr. Herchenhan and I am exited.

I am leaving you with a picture from last week as my youngest was helping with deep cleaning. Have a great weekend all and a wonderful Lord's Day.

I Can Breathe

Wow! I took a whole week from school to focus on deep cleaning my house and I feel much better! I had the children keep up with their math and then assigned them all simple cleaing jobs while I worked on some cleaning jobs of my own. I decided a while back to try focusing on education for 3 weeks of the month and take the last week to focus on deep cleaning. This was my first go at it so its hard to tell if its going to work. But all in all I actually enjoyed the week. I was able to declutter and and clean nooks and crannies...all the while the Holy Spirit was able to clean some nooks and crannies in my heart. Have a great weekend all!

I'm Convinced!

For a while now the Lord has been dealing with me about my prayer life. I think all Christians go through this at some point in their life. I told God that if he would show me how to pray and teach me about prayer I would obey. Since visiting my mother here in TSS I have had a much stronger burden, if you will, to pray in way that pleases the Lord. I'm not interested in religious rambling; I Want To Pray. I just can't seem to get around to developing the habit as thoroughly as I should.

Yesterday I thought out of the clear blue "I think I'll listen to FBN(Fundamental Broadcastin Network) on the computer. A very powerful message came on about prayer. I was in awe. It was the truth. If I can't be in the habit of praying I won't be able to when trials come. OK Lord. Are you trying to tell me something?

In the evening I was standing at the sink doing the dishes when I began to recall that message. Lord, you are right. I should at least some how "train" myself to be in the habit of prayer. Are you really spacifically calling me...asking me to pray? Yes, said the Holy Spirit(not audibly mind you), I do deal with spacific people in very spacific ways. Wow. Me? Yes. YOU.

Well I put on FBN again today to get some cleaning done. All had quieted down for the afternoon and I was listening to the radio station. Another message came on the radio about prayer. This time a different program. Another message on prayer? Wow. Thats all I can say. Wow. Father you really want me to pray. Well the next stop is my prayer journal.

Once again it was good to have been in the house of the Lord yesterday. As my SS teacher was giving the lesson yesterday the scripture he was reading at the paticular moment inspired me. In 2 peter 1:5-8 God's word says:

5. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6. And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7. And to godliness brotherely kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8. For if these things be in you and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I know I should have been listing to what teacher was saying but have you ever come across a scripture and thought "where have you been my whole christian life?"? Here is God's check list; A road map, if you will, of what God expects me to be doing. A revelation. There is no question that this God's will for me right now no matter what my circumstances.

It is also a standard or guidline of what and how I should be teaching my children. Reading, writing, arithmatic are all important, but not first. If my children can name all the presidents and do 100 math problems but they don't know God or they can't be kind to each other then their knowledge is vain.

Finally, this is a promise from God. If these things"abound" then we will not be "barren" or "unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ".

Yes you are absolutely right; I came home and copied those verses in my journal(and here of course) and will pray that the Lord will help me to "give all diligence" to this list of His so we can be fruitful for Him. After all...isn't that why I home educate?

Picnic Pleasures

We had a wonderful picnic at the park today. The weather was beautiful here in TSS. We packed bread, cheese and fruit along with water. My children seem to adore picnics. They had such a wonderful time in the fresh air. I shall have to plan more picnics in the future. I think picnics are just as important to education as...you know...booky things.

Well I am down to only four days left here in TSS. I can't wait to get home...I miss my hubby:o(

Everything seems to be so hectic here. My children seem way to distracted to do any school here. I am truly exhausted.

Still my heart breaks for my two nieces. They are without their mother at the present and both of them are going back and forth between my mother's home and their own. My oldest niece just sometimes forgets where she is supposed to be and what she needs to bring. It is sad. Still she doesn't complain most of the time. It will be hard to leave yet I will be so glad to be home. I know, though, that I can pray for them...and love them while I'm here. It certainly makes me want to get on my knees for my own children.

Well I hope everyone had a great weekend and a happy Lord's day. It was good to be in the house of the Lord.

I only have a week left here the SS. It certainly has been an interesting trip. I've enjoyed the time with family but I will be glad to be home again.

The Lord was faithful this weekend to meet a need in my family. It was an urgent need and I am thankful to serve a God who answers prayer.

Well I won't be posting anymore pictures while here in The Sunshine State. I can't get my pictures from my camera to my mama's computer. I will have to wait till I get back home to post any pictures.

There is nothing new here in the SS. Today I've been catching up on ironing. We haven't even done any schoolwork yet as we are waiting for my neice to go down for a nap. It is a bit cooler here today instead of the warmer weather. At least its not raining. Although I should be thankful for the rain too.

Psalm 119:165
Great peace have they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them.

A Well known preacher came to visit the church I attended yesterday and taught the Sunday School lesson from this verse. It was something that I needed to hear and understand. The verse states that " nothing shall offend them". This does not mean I will not get offended. As the preacher said "If you were to come spit in my face after Sunday School I would probably be offended". There are things that people do that offend us. If someone said to me that my child is ugly it probably wouldn't make me feel to great.

However, the Great peace comes when I realize that I can still do what God has called me to do even though someone offends me(accidentally or otherwise). The preacher said, "if you spit in my face after Sunday School, I will still be over there in the auditorium at 11:oo to preach the am service".

This lesson can certainly be applied to you or I as wives and homeschooling mamas. Our husbands can say something we don't agree with...someone at church doesn't agree with home education....There are even times when our children can offend us. But praise God you and I can still do what we need to do when the time comes. If God says to teach our children at home(Duet. 6), Then we can even if someone dislikes it. If we are to be keepers at home(Titus 2) Than we can even if the world doesn't agree. When our husbands say something we don't like we can still submit sweetly because that is what God said we should do(1Peter 3).

I tend to be emotional about things but because of God's Word I don't have to react emotionally to being offended. I can go about my day doing exactly what God expects of me and let Him deal with my emotions.

This has been a very eventful long day here in the SSS. At least it wasn't raining.

My days have started at 6 am in the morning and ended at 10 at night. I know that doesn't sound like much to others but our unhurried life style its alot. I go almost nonstop with all 5 children. I am glad I can come here and vent a little.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my good friend hskubes for designing my blog. As you can see from an earlier post it was becoming most discouraging. She is the perfect pick-me-up. Thanks friend.

I have sat and read and read and read and studied to try and make a pretty blog . First I am absolutely scared to death to accidently use someones graphics the wrong way and have the wrath of the web come down upon me. Not to mention the lingo. I can't understand a word of it. When I look to graphics people for help again I fear I will do something wrong so I quit. Ya'll will just have to put with my simple little nothing blog. I feel so utterly and completly stupid.

whew. glad I could get that off my chest.

It has rained all day here in "The Sunshine State". I asked my middle angel to choose a poem to copy and this is the on she chose. I think it is most appropiate. I love poems by Stevenson. My angels do as well.

Nothing exiting here today as we were stuck inside. Maybe I'll have my girls read a book about rain. Thus my motto: Everyday is a school day.

If you should stop by Welcome to my blog. I am very new at this please forgive the simplicity.

I am a homeschooling mother of 3 angels. I am a chartlotte mason style ecucator and a history buff. I hope to post here( for a few weeks anyway) about our happenings while visiting family here in the sunshine state.

Speaking of The Sunshine State--The State Board of Education just voted to pass a bill requiring teacher and schools to teach evolution in greater detail and teach it as the "fundamental basis of all biology". How sad that children are being lied to. I am very thankful to be homeschooling my angels.
